Visit the choc restaurant at Marina bay sands - amazing views of the city and the track! For bars head to lantern (Fullerton bay), ku de ta (MBS hotel) or 1-altitude (UOB centre) - all rooftop bars. For burgers with a view go to overeasy. Sights - night safari, sentosa and gardens by the bay. Shops - MBS or ion shopping mall at orchard road. Brunch - wild honey at mandarin gallery on orchard. Local Asian food - go to MBS food court!

The Emirate of Abu Dhabi has transformed drastically over the past 50 years transforming from a small fishing port into an ultra-modern development. As part of this rapid transformation there are many things for visitors to experience and enjoy during the stay in the region.

Boasting a prime location in Abu Dhabi’s new commercial district, the stylish and contemporary Hilton Capital Grand Abu Dhabi hotel is close to the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center and Zayed Sport City and is only 20 minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport.

We spoke with Zachariah Peter Bodai Odango the concierge at Hilton Capital Grand Abu Dhabi who gave us his top tips on things to do and see in the city.

Zachariah Peter Bodai Odango
Hilton Capital Grand Abu Dhabi
Chief Concierge
My favourite place is Yas Island Beach where you can relax on the sandy beach whilst listening to the tranquillity of the sea waves. There is also a restaurant serving a full menu of international cuisine and selection of beverages which are served while you relax on your sun lounger.

Another favourite place is the Abu Dhabi Corniche which is a 10 kilometre stretch located in the city centre. The area is the perfect place for many activities you can watch the amazing sunset, hire a bike and cycle along the designated cycle track, or play beach volleyball, or simply relax on the sandy beach. There is a children's playground, toilet facilities and some restaurants for quick bites.
I would say the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. The mosque is the largest in the United Arab Emirates and the eighth largest in the world covering an area of over 30 acres (12 hectares). Construction on the mosque, which began in 1996, took 11 years to complete. As the country's grand mosque, it is the key place of worship for Friday gathering and Eid prayers. During Eid it can be visited by more than 40,000 people.
My top tip would be to take part in the Abu Dhabi City tour which shows you all the popular attractions in the area. Another tip would be to take part in a half day desert safari located in the Sand Dune surrounding the city.
The must have souvenir is the Emirati local dress for both Male (Kandoora) and female (Abaya) which are available in malls and shopping centres across the region.
There are many places where you can see the beauty of Abu Dhabi life. My favourite spot is in our Blue Bar at Hilton Capital Grand Abu Dhabi, where you can see fantastic views of our beloved Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

You can also see the beautiful original Abu Dhabi Skyline from the Breakwater in Abu Dhabi Corniche where you can enjoy views of the Emirates Heritage Centre which is one of the largest flag poles in the world. From here you can see the contrasts from new and older buildings in the city.
A lesser known attraction in the area is the Abu Dhabi Mangroves, where you can go kayaking and see our amazing unique natural resources.
I would highly recommend the Noche Chill-Out Lounge at the Hilton Capital Grand Abu Dhabi. This is the perfect place to party with your friends on Thursday and Friday nights.
Fish is a mainstay of many local dishes with Al Madrooba, a mix of salted fish, spices and thick sauce being one of the most popular while rice is ever present and is most often served with saffron, nuts and spices.
There are many new locations so it is difficult to choose; however I would recommend:

For Culture - Saadiyat Island
For Shopping & Abu Dhabi Multi-Cultural Life - the City Centre (Hamdan Street, Airport Road, Electra Street)
For Adventure - Yas Island
For Leisure and Relaxation - the Corniche

Arabic, Contemporary, Discovery.
